For many travelers, starting with a burger and fries at the airport is part of the routine. According to a TripAdvisor survey of 1,000 US travelers in July, 65% believed healthy eating was important on vacations, though 81% admitted they were likely to overindulge.
Eating healthy while you travel can be a challenge, especially at the airport where burgers, fries, and pizza dominate the menus of most restaurants. But across the country, airports are working to improve the healthy food options for travelers. A recent survey by Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine found that 83% of all restaurants at airports offer at least one vegetarian item on the menu — low in fat, high in fiber and good for your heart.
And the benefits of eating healthy on the road are great. Susan Levin, nutrition education director for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, healthy food can help offset the stress of travel and keep you healthy. Drinking water can help you combat the germs in the jet’s cabin and high-fiber, low-fat foods can boost energy and help digestion.
So next time you travel, resist the temptation of that burger and fry and opt for a salad or turkey on wheat. Here are the top 11 US Airports to grab a healthy bite at:

For many, the museum is an inexpensive or even free way to spend an afternoon and take in the culture of places they visit. Travel + Leisure collected data from museums, government agencies, and reputable media outlets to tally up the annual attendance at the world’s most-visited museums – check out the three museums that made it to the top:

For several years, the Louvre has attracted 8.5 million visitors annually—a number considerably greater than the 6.7 million that visit the Eiffel Tower. 2. Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Washington D.C.

3. Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Washington D.C.
6.8 million visitors flock to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History to view the massive 126 million item collection, which includes dinosaur fossils and the infamous Hope Diamond. It is also always improving its offering, adding Sant Ocean Hall, the world’s largest marine collection, in 2008, and the Koch Hall of Human Origins in 2010.
